It is always an incredible gesture when a guest chooses to donate to the Foundation. Karen Gregory is one such generous guest, she contacted us earlier in the year to tell us she would like to bring some clothes and toys for the children and we were thrilled to hear of her efforts.
Using the extra luggage allowance that airlines will allow you to take if you are bringing donations for a charity, Karen planned to bring a variety of items with her on holiday. She began collecting skipping ropes, clothes, colouring pencils and more, and once she arrived on Island, even brought fresh fruit to share.
After visiting our office on the Boulevard on MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa, she and her family were taken to the school in Terra Boa by The Cape Verde Foundation. Karen, her son Steve and her grandson Luke came to hand the donations out and the school were very happy with receiving it all, along with fresh fruit on the day.
Karen commented that “we were overwhelmed how happy the children were” and urged anyone else who wants to help the children on the Island to contact The Cape Verde Foundation to arrange a donation because “this school needs all the help you can possibly give”.
Thank you to Karen and her family for their donations, they are gratefully received. They had a fantastic holiday on Sal Island and we are so appreciative that she took time out to come and help the children. She has promised to keep spreading the word about the work of the Foundation and we hope to see her again soon.
