The Cape Verde Foundation is managed by The Resort Group staff and together we’re committed to improving the lives and prospects of local children in Cape Verde. Behind the scenes, we’re busy fundraising for good causes that’ll make a real difference to underprivileged youngsters on the islands.
Dress Down Fridays @ The Resort Group
One of the things we do to raise some cash is have a weekly dress down day. Each of our employees pays a pound to wear their casual clothes on a Friday and the proceeds go to the Cape Verde Foundation. That’s a pound from all 46 members of staff, covering 50 weeks of the year, totalling £2,300 in charitable donations.
That’s Ella pictured above holding the red donation bag and she kindly organises the staff collection. At the end of the year, she pools together all of the £1 contributions and the money is used to buy Christmas gifts for local children in Cape Verde. See our news section for more on what we did last December.
You can also view this YouTube clip of our last Christmas Party. Over 300 children were invited and festivities included a pantomime, dancing, face painting and much more. They received a visit from Santa Clause and were given presents to take home. As you can see from the video, it was a fun-filled day for all the kids.
Sometimes a small gesture like this can go a long way. Just by dressing casually each Friday and making our £1 donations, we get to bring a little festive fun and excitement to these disadvantaged young kids. We’re into our fifth year of dress down Fridays and will continue to support the Cape Verde Foundation in this way.
Car Wash Fundraiser & Cake Sale
As you can see, the people we have here at The Resort Group are a lively and enthusiastic bunch. We’re all fully behind the foundation and keen to do what we can to support the local population and communities in Cape Verde. We’re always looking to do something different to raise a bit of extra money and awareness.
We’re currently planning a Car Wash Fundraiser at our offices in Derby. We haven’t yet decided on the date, but it’ll be on a Friday and we’ll be asking for a minimum donation of £5 per car. The girls have got the soap and shammy leathers at the ready and we’ll soon announce the date on social media.
Watch this space because we’ll be holding other fundraising events throughout the course of the year. Keep coming back to our website for all the latest news and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates. With your support, the Cape Verde Foundation will continue to enrich the lives of the children of Cape Verde.
