We’ve known the Andrews family for some time. They came along to the opening of the MELIÃ Tortuga Beach Resort in 2011 and have since been back 3 times! Over those visits, the Andrews built up fantastic relationships with The Resort Group and Cape Verde Foundation staff – we know them to be kind, loving people. After learning of the work that the Cape Verde Foundation does to support the children of Cape Verde, they wanted to chip in.
A few emails later, the Andrews had packed their luggage and boarded a plane from the United Kingdom to visit Cape Verde once more. This time, they bought an extra suitcase – packed full of clothes and toys ready to be donated to the children of Centro Juvenil Cha De Matias School in Espargos from their two children, Noah (7) and Trinity (5).
We arranged a visit for the toys and clothes to be delivered by Nicola, James, Noah and Trinity last week. The children at the Cape Verde school were ecstatic with the donation and gathered around to give a big Obrigado! (thank you!) to the Andrews family.
After the visit, we received an email from Nicola Andrews to pass on a message from her son, Noah:
“He said he is proud of himself for buying craft bits with their pocket money for them. He also said there are other toys they can have now as they need them more than what he does.”
We’re so proud of you too Noah! We can’t thank you and your family enough for your kind gifts. It warms our hearts to see young people like you helping a good cause.
“It’s a massive eye opener for us all and if everyone could just bring out one thing when they visited here it would make a massive difference.”
Donations really do help to improve the lives of the children of Cape Verde and we’re incredibly grateful to the Andrews family for their help. If you’d like to make a donation or offer any other support that you can, get in touch and we’ll make it happen.
