So often, we are absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of our holidaymakers, investors, friends, family and team members but we wanted to say a special thank you to a family that went above and beyond this holiday season.
The Clarks contacted us before their visit to MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa in December to see how they could help with our upcoming shoebox campaign. We’re always overjoyed to hear that people want to offer their help so, of course, we told them all about it.
After learning about how they could contribute to the schoolchildren on the island, the whole family got involved – asking friends, family, school friends and local companies to make Christmas as wonderful as possible for the children of Cape Verde. With the help of Thompson, who kindly allowed them to check the luggage full of charity donations onto the plane free, they managed to collect and bring this amazing list of gifts: 40 toy cars, 36 erasers, 12 HB pencils, 20 sharpeners, 24 mechanical pencils, 20 sets of dominoes, 4 sets of pick up sticks, 20 skipping ropes, 23 sets of 6 small colouring pencils, 2 sets of 20 felt tip pens, 6 sets of 12 colouring pencils, 4 sets of 10 colouring pencils, 6 sets of 15 large colouring pencils, 25 notebooks, 48 colouring books and 21 packs of 6 crayons.
It was an amazing achievement and a fantastic addition to our shoebox campaign. Luckily, their visit also coincided with our annual Christmas party at the MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa so they came down to see just how much their donations help and met Santa Claus himself.
