We recently sent a filming team over to Cape Verde to get a real representation of how the Foundation is changing lives in the community.
It was an incredibly humbling experience for the team, who have nothing but respect for the people who work tirelessly to make the Foundation’s aims a reality. They spoke to several members of staff, from a head teacher to the entertainment manager, and got to spend time with the wonderful children of Escola Nova School, where the Foundation have helped to further their education.
Rob Jarrett, founder of the Cape Verde Foundation and CEO of The Resort Group and the President of the Foundation, also sat down to talk about their involvement, the achievements of the Foundation so far and their hopes for the future of Cape Verde.
Creative Marketing Manager at The Resort Group, Liane Hunt, has been actively involved in helping the Foundation and flew out to assist the team. “I’ve enjoyed supporting the Derby team with their ideas for individual fundraising efforts. As a result, every department in the company has held an event over the last 18 months to raise money for the Foundation. Being able to see first hand how these donations have helped the school and the people who work so hard to make sure the children receive an education is incredible. I was honoured to be a part of the rainbow inspired wall – the children’s faces lit up as we let them cover their hands in paint and make their mark on the wall. It brightened up the school instantly and we all hope it reminds them that there are people out there helping to make their lives better.”
